WHAT YOU COULD GET
Short + Sweet participants have fantastic opportunities
to hone skills; forge new or strengthen existing
professional relationships; expand networks; open
up future opportunities; and perform at the Arts
Centre, Fairfax Studio.
The Arts Centre invites industry professionals
such as media, casting agents, funding body representatives,
artistic directors of major companies as well
as independent theatre companies, to the performances.
Participants also work with experienced administration
and production professionals, while not needing
to worry about all of the energy consuming work
normally required for marketing and ticket sales.
For those selected for the competition there
is also the chance to win a share of $20,000 in
cash prizes , including Best Overall Production,
People's Choice, Best Male Actor, and Best Female
Actor.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
You will be contacted in early September should
you be selected for audition. Auditions will be
held late September and early October. We will
have further details of audition weekends shortly.
Up to 40 Short + Sweet directors will be there
to cast their plays - cast sizes and types vary
enormously and depend on the plays that are selected
from the script entries.
For the audition you will be required to bring
an up-to-date CV and headshot. Once selected for
audition you will be notified with what to prepare
and expect on the day. Casting will be finalized
in mid-October and plays will then rehearse from
mid-late October to when the competition opens
in December. Rehearsals will be organised by your
director at times to mutually suit your availability.
